The disturbing thing is that I deleted the video this afternoon, yet the file still appeared afterwards in Cloudkit. I'm going to reboot my iPhone and iPad to see if that makes a difference.
In Windows, we had executables (.exe files). If you opened one, your program would run, and any other files it needed were located elsewhere. In Mac OS X, as I understand it, these.app 'files' are really more like folders that contain not only the executable itself but also other files that the app may need. I am new to mac, i had just get the imac & install Thunderbird for mail. After mail server configuration on first screen of it & then close the application i am unable to find out where that goes. I don't where the program files of mac like windows. Regards, sandesh.
The problem isn't just that it creates a copy. It's that it creates a new copy everytime it does a sync. This cannot be right.

I rely on iCloud syncing between my devices, so need to find a long term solution. In the meantime, a reboot deletes all the files from CloudKit, so I'm deleting them too. So far, no problems. I'm also going to clean up my photos and videos to see if that helps.

I really wish someone from Apple would tell us what's going on. I'm betting a lot of other people have this problem, but don't know why their disk is filling up.
System Information User Guide
Use the sidebar of the Storage pane to sort through items by category, see how much space is used, and quickly find documents, apps, books, movies, backups, and other files. Then delete what you no longer need.
Note: The categories you see vary, depending on the apps and files on your Mac.
